A few years ago, HLR Architects worked alongside a building owner and an entrepreneur in Vienna to renovate an old dry cleaner space into a new bubble tea restaurant called Gem Tea. After completing the renovation, the building’s owner returned to HLR Architects to design a space for his next tenant’s space, an old car wash that had served Vienna since the 1960s but had recently closed.
The three brothers who are new tenants, and the building’s owner, invested in gutting and renovating the car wash and installing all-new state-of-the-art car washing equipment. HLR assisted with establishing a new brand identity and the “Vienna Cruz-N-Shine Full Service Car Wash” was born.
The new brand evokes retro auto-centric “cruising,” and HLR took this vibe a step further, removing the building’s tired brown façade and creating a drastically different appearance for the business. The new façade incorporates vibrant red and yellow “racing stripe” elements, coordinated with the car wash’s new logo.
The Town of Vienna was on board with the exciting design, and HLR received their Board of Architects approval for the project.
The car wash has been a part of Vienna’s “main drag” for decades, but now providing a 21st-century car wash experience in an exciting “new” facility. We’re confident their attention to customer service will make them a success!
